Admissions

Routine Admissions

The number of places available for admission to the Reception Class each year is 30.

The Governors welcome applications from Catholic and Non-Catholic Parents who would like their children educated within the aims and ethos of St. Mary's Catholic Primary School. The closing date for applications for a place in the Reception class in September 2024 is  January 2024. The offer date is  April 2024. Applications for a place in Reception at September 2024 must be made on line at Lancashire County Council: <LINK HERE>

Parents who wish to seek priority for baptised Catholic children should also complete the school’s Supplementary Information Form (SIF). The Supplementary Information Form and any required certificates must be returned to the school.

Non-Routine Admissions

An application can be made for a child at any time outside the admission round and the child will be admitted where there are available places. An application should be made to the school by completing the in-year admissions application form, link below and returning it to:

Bursar, St Mary’s Catholic Primary School, Coniston Road, LA4 5PS.

Applications can also be emailed to bursar@st-marys-morecambe.lancs.sch.uk .

Where there are places available but more applications than places, the published oversubscription criteria, as set out in the admission arrangements for 2024 will be applied. Parents are advised to read the admission arrangements carefully before making their application.

If there are no places available, the child will be added to the waiting list. The published oversubscription criteria is also applied where there is more than one child on the waiting list.

Once school receives the application, an acknowledgement email will be sent and you will be advised of the outcome of the application in writing as soon as possible and within 15 days.

Appeals Procedure

If the Governors’ delegate turns down an application for a child fulfilling the above conditions, parents have the right to make an appeal.

This appeal should be sent in writing (see online form below) to the Local Authority within fourteen days of refusal of admission, giving reasons for admission to the school.

Arrangements for appeal will be made by the Local Authority. The decision of the Appeals Committee is binding to all parties and will be communicated in writing to the parents of the child.
