Our Hopes and Dreams - Widening Horizons Art Project

Our Curriculum

In English, our theme for this half term is 'Water, Water Everywhere'. We will be learning about the steps in the water cycle, the journey of a river and rising sea levels. Our reading focus will be retrieving information to use as evidence for our answers. Our main grammar focus will be on using fronted adverbials to add detail to our sentences and to give the reader more information. We will then be applying these fronted adverbials into our non-fiction writing.

In Maths, we are studying fractions. This term, we will be learning how to represent fractions in different ways, find equivalent fractions and also how to add and subtract fractions.

In June, we will be taking the optional times tables test so please practice TTRS at home as often as possible.

In RE, our theme is Pentecost. We will be learning about the symbols used to represent the Holy Spirit.

In Geography and Science, we will be exploring how water travels and changes state.

Please ensure your child has a full PE kit in school at all times. No jewellery is to be worn for PE. PE is timetabled on Thursday but may take place at other times during the week.

The Catholic Life of Our School in Year 4:

One of the most important parts of homework is to talk about what we have been learning about in school. Please ask your child about what they have been learning in English and maths as often as possible.

We will have a spelling test every Friday. Please practice your weekly spellings at home to make sure you can get your best scores on these spelling tests. You can practice these using look, cover, write, check and record your practices in your homework books.

Please read daily with your child and make a comment in their reading record. Ask questions to your child about their reading book to ensure that they have a better understanding of what they have read.

We will be using Mathletics and Times Table Rockstars for our maths homework. Please check these to see your set tasks.
