Our Class Saint
We are 'called to make a difference'
Each half term we will be looking at different Gospel values.
This half term we are learning about being CURIOUS.
We will be reading a variety of different texts this term, starting with The Iron Man by Ted Hughes. The children will use the story to write a diary entry. We will also be looking at poetry and biographies later in the term. The children will be encouraged to read poetry aloud in class. They will be able to sign up to do this weekly. We will also continue with regular grammar and spelling lessons.
This term we will be looking at division, shape, measure, time, position and direction, addition and subtraction. We will continue to follow the Lancashire Red Rose Maths scheme.
This term we are thinking about Pentecost and how we can use the gifts of the Holy Spirit to carry out our mission statement ‘Called to make a difference’. We will then look at the life and work of St Paul and focus on the theme of LOVE within his letters.
Our topic this half term will be based around a novel: The Iron Man by Ted Hughes. We will be exploring the text and making cross-curricular links with the story. Next half term, our topic will be How Does Your Garden Grow? We will be learning about and growing a variety of different plants and discovering plants that are native to the British Isles.
Please ensure your child wears a full PE kit on their allocated PE days. No jewellery is to be worn during PE. Year 3 PE lessons are timetabled for Mondays and Wednesdays.
Please see our Summer Term information sheet below for more details.
