Widening Horizons Whole School Art Project
Artist Priscilla Edwards' first film was inspired by the skilful drawing work done by last year's Yr 4 children ie this year's Yr 5, therefore Yr 4 and Yr 5 staff would enjoy it but also very relevant for all KS2 staff as her drawing demos are fascinating!
Widening Horizons Drawing with Line
Artist Christine Stanford's first film was inspired by the enthusiastic painting work done by last year's Yr 1 children ie this year's Yr 2 therefore Yr 1 and Yr 2 staff would enjoy it but also very relevant for all staff who fancy getting messy with paint but want to learn how to control the mess!
Widening Horizons Abstract Painting
Artist Nicki Smith's first film was inspired by the thoughtful aspiration drawing work done by last year's Reception children ie this year's Yr 1 therefore Reception and Yr 1 staff would enjoy it but also very relevant for all EYFS and KS1 staff who want to develop Aspiration conversation and activities and/or would like to know more about introducing Sewing to the children...
Widening Horizons Threading and Sewing
Artist Nicki Smith's second film was inspired by the Hopes and Dreams artwork created by last year's Yr 3 ie this Year's Yr 4 therefore Yr 3 and Yr 4 staff would enjoy this film but also any staff wanting to use art history references, linking the study an artist or art movement to art activities, would find it useful too. Staff having discussions around the theme of Aspirations with their children would also enjoy this film.
Widening Horizons Making a Printing Block
Re Widening Horizons Making a Printing Block film : Nicki focussed on the work of Corita Kent, a nun who taught art students in America in the 1960s. Her work is not very well known in the UK compared to in America so please see the Corita Kent link for staff below which tells us a bit more about Corita and her work.
Artist Priscilla Edwards' second film was inspired by artwork from two classes - the wool tassels and cords made by last year's Yr 2 and drawings and photographs from when last year's Yr 5 warped up their classroom with wool! Therefore Yr 1, Yr 2, Yr 5 and Yr 6 staff would find this film of interest. Once again Priscilla's demo is fascinating as you watch what she creates from found materials collected from the beach and her store cupboards...
