Year 6 - St. Oscar Romero

Called to make a difference

Welcome to Year 6!

Class Teacher - Mrs Wolff

Welcome to the Autumn Term

Our value for this term is Learned.

A St Mary's Pupil is learned.

St Mary's pupils are growing to be learned, finding God in all things; and wise in the ways they use their learning for the common good.

One of the most important ways we become learned and wise is by watching the actions and listening to the teachings of Jesus Christ.

Our Values in Year 6

Year 6 are Grateful...

'If the only prayer you said was 'Thank You', that would be enough'

Everyone in class has made their very own 'Box of Blessings'. We will keep writing down things we are grateful for and add them to this very special box.

Our Class Saint : Saint Oscar Romero

Celebrate the feast of Saint Oscar Romero: 24th March.

Some of our favourite Oscar Romero quotes:

'Aspire not to have more, but to be more'

'Those who have a voice must speak for those who are voiceless'

'Peace is the product of justice and love'

'God is not satisfied with appearance. God wants the garment of justice. God wants his Christians dressed in love'

'Let us not tire of preaching love; it is the force that will overcome the world'

Class Rules

Our class, and school, rules are taken from St Paul's letter to the Romans.

Our class topic will be 'Ancient Egypt'. We will be learning all about their fascinating history as well as visiting the Egyptian Exhibition at Bolton Museum . Exciting times ahead!

Our class novel that we will be reading in school is ' Ma'at's Feather ' by Juliet Desailly.

Past Homework Project: To build a WW1 model trench

Look at how wonderful and creative are Year 6 children are!

Year 6 have been studying Dadaism as part of their art lessons. The children captured the essence of Dadaism brilliantly in their finished pieces of work.

Reading for Pleasure at Home

Year 6 you have a wonderful treat this year - you have the chance to pick a book to read at home whilst enjoying a hot chocolate!!!!!! There are 10 special bags to chose from and they each contain a book, a book review and a hot chocolate sachet. Mrs Wolff wants you to sit back, relax, enjoy a good book and a comforting, delicious drink. When you have finished your book fill out the book review so we know your thoughts on it.

Buddies are back!!!

Year 6 can not wait to help the newer members of our school family settle into school life and are looking forward to all the fun times ahead! Looking after our mental health and well-being is extremely important; the children from Year 6 are loving connecting with new people and being in the company of their buddies.

P.E will be on a Thursday afternoon with Coach Tom. Please come into school wearing your P.E kit -black/navy jog pants can be worn and trainers.

Our Academic Year 2010-2021

Take a look through just some of the photographs from our last academic year. Some of the highlights include topic homework projects (we had some very creative children who made wonderful models of WW1 trenches and volcanoes), an outdoor pursuits trip, explosive science experiments, some reflective moments, special CAFOD assemblies (via Zoom), D&T projects and much, much more. What a year !

Please do not hesitate to contact me with any queries.
